1) "Elmar, Arkansas" doesn't seem to exist nor ever having existed on any map of the Helena region; according to Jim O'Neal "in the 1909 Helena City Directory there is a reference to 'Amr Saw Mill,' which seems a good possibility, if it was pronounced 'Amar.' The location is cited as the southernmost point of the Helena area canvassed for the directory," while Bob Eagle suspects that it may be "an error for Elaine, which is a place in Phillips County." Chris Smith suspects that it "may have been a short-lived settlement with no name at all." Sykes himself is quoted as saying it was "just a little sawmill town."
2) Amos 2002, p. 8: "Unfortunately, according to Providence [Memorial Park] officials, the family ceased making payments on the plot and possible marker for Roosevelt some time after his death. The grave remains unmarked and the staff will not give out the location, stating this is one of the few recources they have to collect unpaid bills."
